Weekend report, 5/11*/21

The Rainbow Unicorns finished their DCPL spring season over the weekend, with a bit of a rough go. They were shut out by the Oranje (5-1) with a somewhat lopsided scoreline, leaving the Unicorns at 2-5 on the season. We wish our friends on the Unicorns best of luck for whenever the next season begins! Due to previously reported field issues and other scheduling quirks, the DCPL still has two weeks left to play to complete the table; a final is not currently on the schedule, but the Oranje are joined by three other teams at 2PPG or higher.

The other big news from the weekend - or, rather, yesterday - was DC announcing that most COVID-related capacity limits for businesses and such will be lifted over the next month. As of right now, there has *NOT* been any indication of whether the "high-contact sports" ban is among the restrictions being lifted. We obviously hope that we will get news on this front sometime soon so we can meet each other on the pitch again soon, but as of right now we do not advise playing soccer within DC limits, despite most other activities returning to normal. Allowed opportunities for pickup do exist in MD and VA for those who wish to be playing at this point in time.
